Have you
ever heard someone say, "I'm smiling on the outside, but crying on the inside"?
No matter where we go or what we do, we run into people day after day who are
hurting on the inside. Some wear their masks more successfully than others. Very
few know how to break free from the negative patterns and behaviors in their lives.
They look for answers in money, power, sex, and addictions. Their lives become
empty and meaningless. They wait helplessly for someone to come along who can
make sense of all the craziness.
There IS hope.
Through the Life Skills program, we learn that all of the issues that we deal
with as adults have their root in childhood. These issues affect our relationships
for a lifetime. Life Skills teaches the tools that we should have learned in a
balanced, functional home from birth to 18 years of age, such as:
- how to manage your emotions, anger, and pain
- how to communicate
- how to resolve issues
Unfortunately, most of us were
not raised in healthy, functional homes. One wound in childhood will arrest and
stop emotional development, so we will not emotionally grow more than two years
past the point of the original trauma. We then leave our families of origin stuck
in unhealthy patterns that drive us and others around us crazy. We begin to feel
there is no hope to maintain a healthy relationship in any area of our lives,
including family, co-workers, friends, spouse, etc. We question ourselves . .
.
Why do I do the things
I do?
Because of childhood wounds, our emotional development is "frozen."
As a result, all of our relationships will be affected in areas of anger management,
intimacy, conflict-resolution, decision-making, and sexuality. Phase I of the
"Learning to Live, Learning to Love" curriculum gives you the tools
you need to rewire your brain and unlock the areas where you are emotionally stuck.
The program is taught in a 26-30 week gender-separate classroom setting by a trained
facilitator. As you attend a Life Skills class, you will learn:
- how to unlock your dreams and potential
- the importance of how your brains is wired
- about male and female differences
- about dating and what to look for in a partner
- how to build a healthy relationship
- new communication skills
- how to stop negative patterns
- how to show love and respect
When we learn why we do the things we do, we are able
to focus on healing our wounds and changing our own behaviors. We will then begin
to grow, mature, develop true character, and develop healthy relationships. Life
Skills will give you the information and tools you need to reach your fullest
potential in any area of your life, including personal relationships. We will
help you break the cycle of family issues that go from generation to generation.
You're NOT crazy! When you understand why you do the things you do, you can be
set free! Since 1982, Life Skills has helped tens of thousands of people BREAK
FREE and STAY FREE!
